Litter Picks - this is a regular bi-monthly event when as many volunteers who are able to give a few well spent hours on a Sunday morning assists in maintaining the cemetery. The amount of litter recovered on the second Litter Pick in November 2005, was approximately half that recovered on the first event in September; based on that simple fact we appear to be winning! Long may that amount recovered reduce.
Poppy Project - 'We WILL remember them'
This project was to locate all 210 Commonwealth War Graves Commission graves of service personnel which lie within the cemetery, and honour their memory on Armistice Day in November 2005 by the placing of a Poppy Cross of Remembrance on each grave.
Like Topsy's nose the project grew, and the researchers found many more service personnel recorded on family memorials, although their actual graves were in 'the corner of some foreign field.'
In total 284 poppy crosses were placed for Remembrance Sunday by The Friends.
