Heritage Week event represents our last outdoor memorial recording session with George. Next comes the nitty gritty of transferring it all on to a data base. On site again in 2022 so watch this space.

Great turn out today for our first Heritage Week activity.
22 people spent several hours today enjoying the trees and the environment that is Brandwood End Cemetery.
Our thanks go to Dean Paul for such an interesting and informative walk and special thanks to all those that attended, for supporting us in Heritage Week.
We gave a shout out for someone to wash all the dirty Section Markers in the cemetery and Rebecca and young David stepped up- and what an amazing job they did. Well Done. This has been such a help to make the cemetery look loved for Open Day on the 19th.
Great restoration by Mark Brady of the ‘Bowen Memorial’ . Well done Mark !
Its hard for the committee of FBEC to look ahead past Heritage Open week and our own Open Event – but our next ‘activity’ looms on the horizon. On the morning of October 13th we will be hosting a walk led by a Fungi expert and organised by Caring for God’s Acre. I am sure this will be popular so book your place as soon as you can.
Last litter pick of the summer and the last chance to tidy up before the Heritage Open event on the 19th! Saturday 4th September, 10am meet at the Lodge on the main drive.
Over 50 people joined Chris and Mike from Brum Bats and Ranger Dean plus his helpers as they led a Bat Walk from Jasmin Fields to Brandwood Pool- via the cemetery. The Bat appearances were a bit few and far between this year but that didn’t dampen people’s enthusiasm. We detected a few bats along the canal corridor, a few in the cemetery but silence by Brandwood Pool. Most unusual but never mind, better luck next time. I think everyone was glad to be able to attend an event, even though it was outdoors and in bubbles!
