The cemetery is awash with swathes of Crocus, redeployed by the squirrels who ‘stole’ them from our plantings on the main drive. They still look good though!!

We have added 21 new shots, taken by committee member Carola Klein , to our amazing album of ‘snow shots’ of the cemetery. Carola’s new views are the last 21 in the album.

Pleased to see that the new fencing to the rear of the lodge is completed and looking good. The idea was to avoid reinstalling larch lap panels, that the wind soon damages, and deter people from walking through the lodge garden to the rear burial section- but maintain an open aspect.
I think you will all agree that these new fences fulfil all of those requirements….but it appears someone or something is continuing their usual route ! Gathering by the snow prints I think its local foxes and pussy cats, but they have been very busy!
I thought you might like to follow this link to some lovely February 2018 photographs. Not long to go!
We are so pleased to see the new fencing at the rear of the Lodge. The original fence was made of larch lap panels and was often the target of heavy winds and rot ! This fence is more durable and less intrusive. It should last for many years. Maybe we could entreat them to replace the builders fence around the chapels with this?
Some of the worst areas of the main drive have been resurfaced in the last week. There are undoubtedly lots of hot spots still in need of repair but time and finance struggle to coordinate! Well done to Bereavement staff for getting this done at one of their busiest times, and whilst they didn’t actually lay the tarmac- they did have to organise access and areas. Not a simple job !!
Our thanks to our committee member, Carola Klein, for her observations and photographs of Fungi in the cemetery. We notice that this year the huge ‘Fairy Rings’ we saw last year have not reappeared.
We know that many of our web site followers take their cameras along when they visit Brandwood End. We are always interested to see your results if you think you have an interesting shot, whether that is an unusual headstone, wildlife or flora and fauna. Can you e mail them to us at friendsofbec@gmail.com
Beautiful in a strange way. Winter shows the amazing structure of trees.
All the photos in the album link below were taken within a few days of each other, yet the weather is so different! (Can I give e mention to Gary Staples who took the drone shots)
