Last tidy up of 2021 for the Civilian Garden.

It’s well past the end of the City’s grass cutting period but the unusually warm weather has meant the garden was looking like a hay meadow! The Friends ran a mower over it today and have managed to reduce the length, so let’s hope that’s it for 2021!

New mini Standards for the Civilian Garden.

Deb and Alan Wilkes came over from Walsall today to donate and plant 2 mini standard red rose trees to replace the two failed ones in the small quarter beds.  New well-rotted compost and mycorrhizal fungi were added to the planting holes and the trees staked.

202 Field Hospital Reserves.

Members of 202 did us proud today as they spent 5 hours uncovering graves lost under shrubbery, clearing Holly and making sure all our War Graves are accessible Several truck loads of Holly and Ivy were removed and the hedges around the Cross of Sacrifice trimmed and area swept. Restricted vehicle access to cemetery.

The Cemetery will be closed to vehicles on Wednesday 8th and Thursday 9th December, there will be pedestrian access through the main gate and broad lane, however no vehicles will be able to gain access during this time.  This is due to the roadway leading  into the cemetery being resurfaced.
