This weekend a couple of our regular ‘Grave Gardeners’ dropped into the cemetery to clear another area of shrubbery. As you can see, access to graves has been restored. Well done Malcolm and Steven.

Deutsche Bank brave the rain.
The start of today’s gardening session with Deutsche Bank was wet and windy but as they worked the rain stopped. So much was achieved in a morning and many more graves emerged from the shrubbery. We hope we can welcome them again to carry on this important clearance work. We’ll done to everyone involved including our volunteers who worked alongside them.
February 10th Grave Gardening Session
Volunteer Gardening Session to clear shrubbery on February 10th, 11am till 2pm. Drop in for an hour if you can spare time. We have the tools, just need the manpower. All abilities welcome.

Last gardening work party of 2023
The Friends have had half a dozen work parties in the cemetery but todays was the final one of 2023. As usual our aim was to remove as many self set Holly saplings from graves as possible. Many of the ‘saplings’ had now grown to cover several graves and hampered families in their genealogy searches or in many cases prevented the tending of these graves.
Today we managed to uncover several graves and one was particularly interesting. Watch this site for more information. To our surprise over a dozen people turned up to help. Some stayed all of the session, some stayed an hour or so. All worked really hard to uncover graves.

Two of our volunteers have been concentrating on the Civilian Garden of Remembrance and beds have been tidied and under hedges cleared. An amazing impact created by Sue and Ray.
Without our volunteers we would not be able to complete all the projects that we do- so can we give them all a huge thank you and wish everyone a Peaceful and Merry Christmas, as we all settle down for some family and personal time.
Gardening Event Saturday 16th
Our last chance in 2023 to help clear some of the self set Holly and shrubbery engulfing some graves in the cemetery. We have tools but welcome manpower.
We welcome the Army back!
We were so pleased to welcome 202MMR back to Brandwood End today. We welcome help with the removal of the huge amount of shrubbery they always manage to clear from graves. Holly from the main drive and self setters from some sections, revealing graves covered for many years.

Whilst clearing shrubbery covering graves we were approached by a Reporter called Dylan Hayward and as a result he has produced this lovely piece.
Gardening Day Success.
A great success today as twelve volunteers worked in the Civilian Garden, cleared graves and shrubbery, cut hedges and planted bulbs and pansies. A really good days work and our thanks to all those that gave their time. We were lucky with the weather so let’s hope it is as good for our next session on December 16th from, 11am – 2pm.

Our thanks to Julia and Gemma who spruced up the 3 raised planters we installed near the Lodge. It was goodbye to the Geraniums that have served us well over the summer and instead we welcome a riot of Winter Pansies. Well done team!
